PHILIPPINE EXPERIENCE SOUTH: TIBIAO, ANTIQUE, PANAY
This trip, the Philippine Experience South, has just been awarded the 1999 Kalakbay Award for “Best tour Package” (International), and accepted the award in late September at the Presidential Palace. This award is given yearly by the Philippine Department of Tourism, and we are proud of the effort of the Tribal Adventures employees, and most of all, the people of Tibiao, who have supported the Kayak Inn and our tour endeavors from the beginning.
Panay Trekking Adventure (3Days/2 nights)
Price of US$100/day, or $215 per 3 day
Package Includes:
- Transport to and from your Boracay Resort
- 2 nights accommodation at Kayak Inn in native style huts, basic bedding and mosquito net provided
- Boat, land transport
- Optional activities all included; mountain bike riding, kayaking (including helmet, life jacket and paddles)
- Service of an experienced guide
- Bottled water for hikes and native style day pack to carry it in
- Pre-tour briefing at Sandcastles resort on Boracay on the evening prior to tour departure
- Meals as indicated (B-breakfast, L-lunch, D-dinner)
- Compulsary accident insurance of P250/person
- Single supplement of US$75/day

ITINERARY
Day 01: Boracay - Panay Island
Drive to Malumpati River; the hike departure point. After the 2 km walk enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool aqua natural swimming pool. Continue down towards the source of the river, options include kayak, bamboo raft or walking, all suitable for beginners. Drive from Malumpati River along the scenic west coast of Panay Island, lunch en route at a local restaurant. Arriving at the Kayak Inn check in to your accommodation, native style Filipino huts built on stilts perched on the edge of the hill with spectacular views. Afternoon is at leisure; relax and swim in the river or mountain bikes and kayaks available, or head out to see the Bugtong Bato (7 tier) Waterfalls. Returning to Kayak Inn before dusk you can soak away your care sin the unique “kawa” – this is like an over-sized wok heated by hot coals. A hearty meal is served on banana leaves, tuba (coconut wine) is free. Overnight Kayak Inn; Lunch and Dinner.
Day 02: Panay Island
Wake up to native delicacies like suman and bibingka. After breakfast hike to the village of Igpitoy, 3 kms. Upstream and only accessible by foot. Meet locals along the narrow paths of the mountainside. From Igpitoy venture to the village of Pitak. After lunch enjoy views of the island of Mararison and San Vicenteas seen across rice terraces. A further 4 kms. From Pitak the vehicle will pick you up and take you to visit a local village specializing in pottery and if time permits to a village of pineapple fiber weavers. Return to Kayak Inn for dinner and some local entertainment. Overnight Kayak Inn; Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 03: Panay Island – Boracay
Head out on the Mountain Terraces and Waterfall hike with your guide. Take a mountain trail to a viewpoint overlooking the Tibiao River, Kayak Inn and village of Tuno. Proceed up the mountainside to view some of the levels of the Bugtong Bato (7 tier) Waterfalls. Take a rugged, muddy path down to the rice terraces and your guide will explain about “rice culture”. Swim in the cool waters at the base of the falls and return via the village ot Tuno, before returning to Kayak Inn. Relax and enjoy lunch at the Kayak Inn before departing at 1:30 pm arriving in Boracay by about 4:30 pm, usually in time to catch the spectacular sunset. Breakfast. Lunch.
