The Chico River is one of the longest rivers in the Philippines with remarkable scenery that is cradled with mountainsides of centuries old rice terraces, rustic villages and lush green foliage. Marathon Run – 4D/3N – Php 8,000.00 3D/2N – Php 6,000.00 (less Day 02 Activities) Arrival from Bontoc – 3D/2N – Php 5,000.00 2D/1N – Php 3,800.00 This is the premier whitewater rafting trip in the Philippines and our most popular trip with guides and paddlers alike! The trip covers the whole length of the Chico River from Tinglayan to Tabuk with appropriate rafting time of six to eight hours depending on water levels. This stretch is generally of Class III & IV rapids amidst the scenic wonder of the Chico River Gorge, heartland of Kalinga. You will pass through the ancient rice terraces, narrow limestone canyons, sleepy villages, and of course the thrill of Kalinga whitewater. The trip includes a trek to one of the villages. Day Trip - Php 2,500.00 Where the Pasil and Chico river meet in a historical setting called the “ Chico and the Pasil Confluence” the Tabuk-Chico River trip begins. This is a class II beginner run full of big waves and beautiful scenery without the hard continuous rapids found upstream in the Tinglayan stretch. This is three - hour trip that ends near Tabuk. Minimum of 6 pax and maximum of 18 pax per departure group How to get to us to Tabuk: From Manila. The journey to Kalinga can be done by land and by air. Philippine Airlines 9PAL) flies from Manila to Tuguegarao thrice weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. From Tuguegarao, it is an hour ride by jeep or bus to Tabuk. We can pick you up at the airport if you inform us in advance. PAL’s reservation hotline is (02) 855-8888. By Land. Autobus lines telephone (02) 743-6870, and Victory Bus Lines (Kamias terminal) (02) 920-7396 offers daily air conditions bus service to Tabuk that is usually a ten hour-trip form Manila. From Bontoc. Jeepneys and buses ply the Kalinga highway to Tinglayan (2.5 hrs) and Tabuk (6 hrs). Service is hourly from 7 to 11 am. ITINERARY Day 01 – Arrival Day You will be picked up at the Tuguegarao Airport and whisked by a one-hour jeepney ride to Tabuk. Stopover for lunch. Continue the off road trip to Tinglayan. Arrive in the village of Tinglayan and have a good night sleep at Good Samaritan Inn or Sleeping Beauty Inn. OR – If you take the night trip from Manila, with your own transportation or by bus, arrive in Tabuk in the morning, wash up and have a breakfast, before an off-road jeepney to Tinglayan. Along the way, you will have many opportunities to take a shots of the mountain scenery and rice terraces. A brief stopover in Lubbagan and shop for souvenir items. Lunch in Lubbagan. Arrive in Tinglayan one hour later. You can either have the option of light trekking or wander around the nearby villages and river bathing or take a rest to brace yourself for the next day’s activities. Day 02 – Village Immersion The day starts with an off road one-hour jeepney ride to Bugnay for the village trekking. Lunch will be at the riverside or in the village. The downward trek to the river will cap the day for a two hour-trekking trip to Tinglayan Village. You will experience a taste of the Chico River Adventure, as you get ready for what lies downstream for the next day. Day 03 – The Big Rafting Day This will be the BIG RAFTING DAY. Meet your crew and rafts at the Ambato Put-in, a dramatic launch point at the foot of the Sleeping Beauty Range, the site of the bloodiest mortal combat of the Kalingas of yesteryears. Experience the excitement, serenity, joy and indescribable beauty of Mighty Chico River. At the Pasil-Chico confluence enjoy a barbecue lunch and continue the trip downstream with tamer waves. Relax for the night at the Davidson or Kalinga Hostel. Day 04 – Departure Day Before the trip back to the airport you might want to wander in the Bulanao Market.
